Lightning Bolt

  • Components: V S M (A bit of fur and a rod of amber, crystal, or glass)
  • Duration: Instantaneous

You climb into the sky, and tremendous lightning from heaven falls on an unlucky target and any allies standing nearby. Target a creature or location within range.

The goal should be open to the sky and not inside the home. The target has to make a Dexterity conserving throw, putting up with 8d8 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success. Also, every creature within 15 feet from the hitting point must make a saving throw, taking up half of the damage covered by the failure.

If this spell is cast at an invalid target or the target is not specified, the lightning bolt automatically targets the tallest creature or metal object in the range.

At Higher Levels:

When you cast this spell using a 5th level or higher spell slot, it causes 1d8 extra lightning damage for each level above the 4th. Additionally, when you cast this spell using a 6th level or more upper spell slot, the secondary effect extends to a distance of 5 feet for each of the two levels above the 4th.
